Talisapatradi Leham – Good for Seasonal Cough, Sore Throat, Bronchitis, Asthma


Common cold, Seasonal Cough, Triggering of Bronchitis and Asthma are common during monsoon and cold seasons. Talisapatradi Leham is an Ayurvedic herbal preparation in the form of confection or jam which is highly effective in combating the above said conditions in mild to moderate forms.

Talisapatradi Leham:

Reference – Ashtanga Hridayam

Ingredients:

  • Guda – Saccharum officinarum
  • Talisapatra – Abies spectabilis / Abies webbiana
  • Chavya – Piper mullesua / Piper chaba
  • Maricha – Piper nigrum
  • Krishna / Pippali – Piper longum
  • Krishna mula / Pippalimula – Piper longum (wild var) or root of Piper longum
  • Abhaya / Haritaki – Terminalia chebula
  • Ela – Eletaria cardamomum
  • Twak – Cinnamomum verum
  • Patra – Cinnamomum tamala
  • Nagakeshara – Mesua ferrea
  • Ushira – Vetiveria zizaniodes

Available form:

  • Avaleha / Lehya – Confection or herbal (medicated) jam

Dose:

  • 5-15 grams or as directed by a qualified Ayurvedic Doctor, before or after food and also as repeated dosage at frequent intervals (when severe)

Indications:

  • Shwasa – Asthma, Breathlessness, Wheezing, Bronchitis
  • Kasa – Cough
  • Peenasa / Pinasa – Cold/Catarrh/Sinusitis/Rhinitis
  • Swarabheda – Sore Throat, Hoarseness of voice
  • Ajeerna – Indigestion
  • Agnimandhya – Anorexia, Sluggish digestion
  • Chardi – Vomiting due to Vata / Pitta or Kapha vitiation
  • Grahani – Sprue / Irritable bowel
  • Hrit-Shoola – Pain in chest (non-cardiac)
  • Hridroga – Heart diseases
  • Praseka – Water brash, Excessive Salivation
  • Malabaddhata – Constipation (Leham acts as a laxative)
